Best Colognes for Men
There are things a woman looks for in a man that are obvious and most of us are aware of. However, there are other qualities women look for and these qualities have to do with cleanliness and freshness. One of the most important things is the way a man smells. Even if a woman is heavily attracted to a man's looks and wits, she will leave in a second if he smells bad. The purpose of cologne though is not to cover up bad smells but to mix with natural chemicals in the body to produce an attractive smell.
Every man has something called pheromones and each man's body produce them to create a smell that is unique to that one man and not present in any other. When cologne is added to this chemical, it enhances the pheromones and a new unique and wonderful scent is produced; this makes a woman physically, mentally, and emotionally attracted to a man. Furthermore, humans' memories are sometimes triggered from smells; in this sense, a man can create good thoughts and happy feelings in the mind of a woman just by the scent he is wearing.
It is very important that a man applies cologne to the right spots on the body. It is not suggested to spray cologne on the clothes as the smell will dissipate quickly and not have the benefit of pheromone interaction. Applying the cologne to areas of the body that are warm will ensure a pheromone interaction and make use of the scent in the best way; these areas include: wrists, armpits, neck, and behind the ears. One important thing to note is the fact that a man does not want to smell like he has bathed in his cologne. Therefore, if using a spray, it is best to spray small amounts into the hand when applying to areas other than the neck and wrist. It is a good idea to test a new bottle of cologne on a piece of paper to see how much fragrance the bottle dispenses before attempting to apply it to the body.
Since every man's pheromones are different and therefore will react differently to cologne when it is applied, certain colognes will work for a specific man and some do not. However, there are some colognes that work for all men, they are:
- Polo (Classic) - Created in 1978, Classic Polo is one of the most popular scents and has been around for some time now. This scent here will create fond memories of childhood for most women because, to be honest, most of their fathers have worn it. It is rugged and charming and mixes well with almost any man's pheromones. This classic fragrance consists of a combination of spruce wood, cloves, marjoram, basil, thyme, oak moss, leather, and patchouli.
- Aqua Di Gio - The Giorgio Armani fragrance was created in 1997 is casual but elegant at the same time. The fresh smell of this scent is created with a combination of bergamot and jasmine giving it a cool aquatic like smell that women go crazy over. Although it isn't a classic, it will be eventually because it just smells that good.
- Fahrenheit - This Christian Dior fragrance was launched in 1988 and has been a hit ever since. Like its name, this fresh-scented smell turns the degrees up in a woman's body creating a sexual attraction like almost no other fragrance out there. This unique scent plays upon a mixture of mandarin, cedar, sandalwood, honeysuckle, leather, and violet.

This is a scent for a modern man and women who smell it will be attracted to the confidence and sophistication of the man who is wearing it. This amazing fragrance consists of iced mango, tonka bean, sandalwood, patchouli, and fresh sage.
- Chrome - This Louis Azzaro scent was put to market back in 1996 and has stayed at the top of the charts. Chrome gives that fresh allure of fruit with a mixture of masculinity. Chrome includes: green tea, bergamot, spicy citrus, a woods base, and ginger.
- Curve - This amazing fragrance by Liz Claiborne was made available in 1996. The daytime fragrance is spicy but has a hint of fresh and is known to drive woman crazy. Curve consists of ingredients like fresh greens, water, pepper, and mahogany.
The above is not an all-inclusive list but yet a list of the very best. It is a good idea for any man interested in making himself more attractive to have an arsenal of about 3 or 4 fragrances. There is one thing that women do not like and that is predictability; this is boring to them. Therefore, it is wise to switch it up every now and then. Also, colognes are labeled sporty, elegant, or fresh; it is best to wear them according to the occasion to get the most out of the scent.
The best cologne for any given man will vary. The best gauge is to test it and wear it. If the scent creates good memories in one's own mind and women are giving compliments, it is likely that this scent is for that particular individual. Again, fragrances bring about feelings and memories which invoke security, fun, sophistication, class, and elegance; it is a good idea to not wear the same fragrance over and over but to switch it up once in a while instead.
