Versace Eau Fraiche Cologne

Versace Man Eau Fraiche by Gianni Versace is an eau de toilette for men that combines subtlety with sexiness and is simply a pleasant men’s cologne to wear. Versace Eau Fraiche remains popular over ten years after the tragic death of the fashion designer who first marketed the eau de toilette. Gianni Versace himself was not just a fashion designer and entrepreneur, but a movie costume designer who appeared in two movies in the year or two before his death and who was a friend to many of the celebrities he met.

Versace Cologne Fragrance Notes

Versace Eua Fraiche Men’s Cologne is a complex blend of lemon essence, star fruit, tarragon, amber, sage, musk, rosewood, sycamore wood and cedar leaves. This gives Versace Cologne a sophisticated fragrance with citrusy notes as well as earthly scents, creating a masculine cologne that wears well and is both fresh and light. Versace Eua Fraiche is a little weak in the base notes and doesn’t last more than 3-4 hours, though, so be prepared to keep it with you and touch up your fragrance after about 4 hours.

I’ve seen people compare Versace Cologne For Men to a more masculine version of Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue For Women, but I never have noticed the connection to D&G Light Blue myself. In fact, besides a touch of musk, the ingredients are not the same at all. I guess the connection is because the top notes are citrus, the middle notes are earthy or floral and the bottom notes are musk. Whatever the case, as a man, I wouldn’t get scared off by reviews comparing Versace Man Eau Fraiche to a women’s fragrance, because I would definitely place Versace Cologne for men in the masculine category.

Don’t concern yourself if you or your loved ones have allergies to cologne, because Versace Men Eau Fraiche by Gianni Versace does not overpower the senses and is unlikely to give you a headache or allergy, unless you douse yourself in this men’s cologne.

About Gianni Versace

Gianni Versace was born in Italy in 1946 and died there in Florida in 1997 at the young age of 50. The Italian fashion designer was tragically killed by the spree killer, Andrew Cunanan, who shot four other men in the months leading up to  Gianni Versace’s shooting. Cunanan had been placed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted List prior to the murder of Versace. Cunanan committed suicide to avoid capture in the days after Versace’s murder.

The motive for the killing was never established, though the 27-year old knew the first three men and may have been a male prostitute for older gay men. It has been established that Gianni Versace, who was openly gay, did not know Cunanan and was likely simply another famous target.

As for Gianni Versace, he was friends with many celebrities, including Sting, Elton John and Princess Diana. Gianni Versace studied architectural design as a young man, but he eventually moved to Milan and became a fashion designer. Mr. Versace experienced a meteoric rise throughout the ranks of fashion designers after opening his first botique in Milan in 1978.

The Gianni Versace Name

Gianni Versace’s name was often mispelled as “Gianna Versace”, which would imply a female name in Italian.
